Work independently to diagnose faults, restore equipment and collect reliability data, while supporting less-experienced technicians and small teams.

Main responsibilities

  • Diagnose equipment failures by observing operation, inspecting parts and testing electrical circuits and mechanical systems. Dismantle equipment, adjust controls, repair or replace faulty components, test results and recondition machine tools; perform preventive maintenance.
  • Identify and obtain the parts, supplies and repair materials needed for the work.
  • Carry out maintenance independently in accordance with industry standards.
  • When required, set up and use machining equipment such as lathes, drill presses, grinders and other metalworking tools to make or repair parts. Welding tasks may also be assigned.
  • Maintain 5S and housekeeping standards in the work area.
  • Lead and participate in continuous-improvement activities aimed at better processes, results and cost savings.
  • Keep maintenance records current and review the equipment's CMMS history.
  • Troubleshoot control systems to identify and resolve software, hardware and configuration faults.
  • Use predictive-maintenance technologies to collect information on equipment performance.
  • Assist less-experienced technicians and provide leadership to small teams; undertake more advanced work as part of training and development.
  • Complete on-the-job training and technical self-study for continued development.
  • Follow safety policies, regulations, technical instructions and guidance; identify unsafe actions and conditions.

Basic qualifications

  • Required: High school graduation or an equivalent GED.
  • Required: A technically focused associate degree plus 3 years of related general-industry experience; or 5 years of related general-industry experience; or successful completion of the ATS Technician Progression Program.

  • Required: Ability to use basic hand tools and suitable specialized tools.
  • Travel may be required. The posting does not state a frequency.

Working conditions

Usually very loud factory work. Regular tasks include standing, walking, reaching and handling equipment; climbing or balancing at heights using a ladder or lift; and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling in confined spaces. The posting also lists talking/hearing and regular close and color vision. Sitting is occasional, as is lifting or moving loads of more than 50 lb. Occasional exposure to outdoor weather and electric-shock risk is stated; hazardous materials and greasy or slippery floors may also be present. Travel may be required. Requirements explained

MillRole interpretation

Experience

There are alternative qualification routes. The technical-degree route requires 3 years of related experience. The 5-year experience route and successful completion of the ATS progression program are listed as alternatives, not additional requirements to satisfy together.

Skills

Control-system troubleshooting is explicitly part of the work. The role includes software, hardware and configuration fault diagnosis. This announcement does not name PLC platforms or explicitly require PLC programming. Machining and welding duties are conditional rather than a claim that every task is performed daily.

Schedule

Factory conditions and possible travel are explicit. Noise, heights, confined-space tasks, electrical hazards and occasional loads above 50 lb are described. Confirm shifts, travel frequency and the practical physical demands with the employer; none should be inferred from the senior title.
